Where a cut slope sheds boulders too big for mesh alone, the answer is a two-layer net: a steel wire rope net that takes the load of large blocks, laid over double twisted hexagonal mesh that holds the smaller stones. We make both layers to your specification and supply them together.
A boulder (or rockfall) protection net is a drapery or pinned system hung over a rock or soil cutting. The primary layer is a net of steel wire rope in a square grid, typically 200–300 mm, with the ropes held at every crossing by clips or knots. The secondary layer underneath is double twisted hexagonal wire mesh, the same mesh as our rockfall netting, which stops the smaller fragments passing through the rope grid.
The two layers are fixed at the top with anchors and a support rope, and either left hanging (drapery: rock is guided down to a ditch at the toe) or pinned to the face with rock bolts (secured drapery: rock is held in place).
| Item | Typical BOQ wording | What we need from you |
|---|---|---|
| Wire rope net | 300 × 300 mm grid, 10 mm wire rope | grid, rope diameter and construction, panel size |
| Wire rope | to IS 2266 or EN 12385-4; wire to IS 1835 | standard and grade; galvanized or ungalvanized |
| Crossings | clips or knots at every crossing | type of clip and how many per crossing |
| Secondary mesh | double twisted hexagonal, 8×10, 2.7 mm Zn or 2.7/3.7 mm Zn+PVC | mesh type, wire, coating, roll size |
| Mesh strength | e.g. minimum 40 kN/m tensile | the figure and the test method named |
| Tolerances | e.g. grid +12% / −4% | as written in the specification |
| Support ropes and anchors | top and bottom ropes, anchor bars | lengths and diameters, if in our scope |
We manufacture to the Indian Standards and quote against the international standard your specification names: send it as written and we confirm, item by item, what we supply before quoting. Every lot is supplied with a test certificate.
For smaller stones mesh alone is enough; see rockfall netting specification. For the whole range of slope products see gabion applications.

A two-layer slope net: a steel wire rope net in a square grid (for example 300 × 300 mm of 10 mm rope) over double twisted hexagonal mesh, anchored at the top of a cutting to stop or guide falling boulders.
Rockfall netting is double twisted wire mesh on its own and suits smaller stones. A wire rope net adds a grid of steel rope on top that carries the load of large boulders; the mesh underneath catches the small pieces.
Yes. We make both layers to the specification and supply them together, with clips and support ropes if they are in the scope.
Double twisted mesh to IS 16014:2024 and wire rope to IS 2266 as standard. If your specification names EN 12385-4 or another standard, we quote against it after confirming each clause.
