Cylindrical gabions that are filled at the bank and placed where they are needed — including underwater, where a gabion box cannot be built in place.
A sack gabion is a cylinder of double twisted hexagonal mesh, closed along its length with lacing wire once filled with stone. It is filled on land or on a barge and then lifted or rolled into position.
That makes it the unit of choice for emergency breach closure, underwater foundations and scour holes, and sites where water never drops low enough to build boxes in the dry.
