Weld mesh is priced by the kilo and the square foot. Here is the weight of every IS 4948:2002 size, the formula, and a calculator for your own rolls and panels.
50 × 50 mm welded mesh weighs about 2.45 kg/m² in 3.15 mm (10 gauge) wire and 3.95 kg/m² in 4.00 mm (8 gauge). 25 × 25 mm in 2.50 mm (12 gauge) is about 3.08 kg/m².
Openings as centre-to-centre pitch, as IS 4948 gives them. Weight = wires per metre each way × weight per metre of wire; PVC at 1.35 g/cm³.

A square metre of mesh with a pitch of p mm has 1000 ÷ p wires each way, each a metre long. Multiply by the weight of the wire per metre (0.00617 × d² kg/m for steel, d in mm) and add the two directions:
kg/m² = 0.00617 × d² × (1000 ÷ p1 + 1000 ÷ p2)
Galvanizing adds a little; a PVC jacket adds its own weight (use the calculator).
About 0.227 kg/sq ft for 50 × 50 mm in 3.15 mm wire, and 0.286 kg/sq ft for 25 × 25 mm in 2.50 mm wire.
kg per square metre = 0.00617 × d² × (1000/p1 + 1000/p2), with the wire diameter d and the two pitches in mm. Multiply by the area for the total.
About 4.44 kg per square metre in 3.00 mm wire; in the IS 4948 size of 3.15 mm, 4.89 kg/m².
