Double twisted mesh draped over unstable rock faces so loose stone slides down behind the net to the toe, instead of bouncing onto the road or railway below.
Rockfall netting is double twisted hexagonal mesh supplied in rolls, anchored at the crest of a slope and hung down the face. Rock that detaches is held against the slope and guided down to a catch ditch at the toe.
Because the mesh is double twisted, a wire cut by a sharp rock does not unravel the net. For higher energy slopes it is combined with anchors, cables and rock bolts designed for the site.
