IS 16014:2024 is the Indian Standard for mechanically woven, double twisted hexagonal wire mesh gabions, revet mattresses and rockfall netting. It is the standard our gabion products are made to.
The standard sets the mesh, wire, coating, sizes, tolerances and tests for double twisted hexagonal mesh products: gabion boxes, revet mattresses, sack gabions and rockfall netting, in heavily galvanized wire or galvanized wire with a PVC jacket. The 2024 edition replaces the earlier editions — many BOQs and the MoRTH Data Book still cite IS 16014:2012, so write new items to 2024.
| Mesh | Opening D | Mesh wire (GI) | Selvedge (GI) | Lacing | PVC coated (core / outside) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6×8 | 60 mm | 2.00 / 2.20 mm | 2.40 / 2.70 mm | 2.20 mm | 2.00/3.00 · 2.20/3.20 mm |
| 8×10 | 80 mm | 2.70 mm | 3.40 mm | 2.20 mm | 2.70 / 3.70 mm |
| 10×12 | 100 mm | 2.70 / 3.00 mm | 3.40 / 3.90 mm | 2.20 mm | 2.70 / 3.70 mm |
Each joint is twisted through three half-turns, so a cut wire does not unravel the panel.
