The 600 mm coil is the one most Indian tenders ask for on top of a boundary wall. This is its specification, its weight, and how many you need.
| Part | Specification |
|---|---|
| Coil | Punched tape concertina coil, 600 mm diameter |
| Loops | 50 rounds per 6 m of run |
| Openable length | 10 m per coil (total run as per BOQ) |
| Spring core | 2.5 mm high tensile wire, 165 kg/mm² |
| Tape | 0.52 mm thick, 43.478 g per metre |
| Support | M.S. angle ‘Y’ posts 2.4 m or 3.0 m apart on the wall top (paid separately) |

Steel in tape and core at 0.52 mm tape (43.478 g/m) on a 2.5 mm core — 0.155 kg per turn — before clips. Published 600–610 mm coils: 7.25–7.50 kg (40–45 turns, tender pre-bid answer) and 9.0 kg with 129 clips (50 turns, defence specification). Any other coil: weight calculator.
BTO-22 is the usual blade for boundary walls; BTO-10 for a neat town wall; BTO-30 or CBT-65 where the perimeter needs a harder barrier. We make the 600 mm coil in every blade, single or cross type.
On Y-angle posts 2.4–3.0 m apart with nine horizontal lines of razor tape or barbed wire — see concertina fencing installation.
About 7.7 kg of steel for 50 turns of 0.52 mm tape on a 2.5 mm core, before clips; published coils range from 7.25 kg to 9.0 kg with clips.
At 50 turns per 6 m of run, 17 coils per 100 m.
The coil is drawn out so that 50 turns (rounds) cover 6 m of wall, and clipped at that pitch.
