GI wire is steel wire with a zinc coating that stops it rusting. It is the raw material of fencing, gabions and binding work, and the base for PVC coated wire. We supply it in every common size, in coils.

Weights for the steel at 7.85 g/cm³; the zinc adds a little. Every size: wire gauge chart. PVC coated: PVC coated GI wire.
The zinc coating is specified by its mass per square metre of wire surface (IS 4826), in grades from light to heavy. Heavy coating is what gabions, fencing and anything outdoors should use; light coating is for binding and indoor work. Send the coating grade or g/m² your specification names.
GI wire falls under HSN 7217 (wire of iron or non-alloy steel); zinc-coated wire is 7217.20. Check the current GST rate on the GST portal; our HSN and GST page lists the codes for every product we supply.
