Galfan wire is steel wire coated with a zinc–5% aluminium alloy instead of plain zinc. We PVC coat Galfan core wire at our works beside Kolkata for gabion, mattress and fencing mesh manufacturers in India and abroad.
Galfan is a metallic coating of about 95% zinc and 5% aluminium (Zn95Al5), applied to steel wire by hot dipping. It protects the steel longer than the same weight of plain zinc. Over it we extrude a PVC jacket, nominally 0.50 mm thick, giving the wire three layers: steel, zinc–aluminium alloy, PVC. This is the wire specified for gabions and mattresses in water, on the coast and in aggressive ground.

Other cores from 2.00 to 3.90 mm and other jacket thicknesses to order. Every lot is supplied with a test certificate for alloy and coating mass, and the finished wire is tested at our works.
Grey (for example RAL 7036) and green (for example RAL 6005) are the usual gabion colours; give us the RAL number and we match the compound. UV-stabilised PVC for outdoor exposure.
