“Wire crate with 4 mm GI wire @ 32 kg per 10 sqm” is one of the most common gabion lines in Indian tenders — especially irrigation and flood-control works in West Bengal, Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal. It comes from an older clause written for crates woven by hand on site.

State irrigation and waterways departments for river bank and embankment protection, PWD and rural roads departments for culvert and bridge-approach protection, and MoRTH road works for river training. In West Bengal and the North East it is the most frequent gabion line in BOQs.
The clause dates from crates woven by hand on site. Factory-made mesh is supplied against it routinely, but the item usually needs aligning — mesh form, wire, weight check — before supply. Send us the BOQ line and we tell you in one conversation how to quote it and how it is settled with the department (MoRTH 2503.3 wire crates).
