Gabion facing with a mesh tail that runs back into the fill — building the wall face and the soil reinforcement in one continuous unit.
A facia unit for a reinforced soil structure is a gabion-type facing box whose base panel continues as a long tail of double twisted mesh. The tail is laid between compacted layers of backfill, so the soil block itself becomes the retaining structure.
Vertical units build stepped or near-vertical walls; inclined units give a sloped, vegetated face at angles from 45° up to 87°. IS 16014:2024 specifies them in PVC coated wire only, because the tail is permanently buried.

Standard schedule, IS 16014:2024 Tables 4 (vertical) and 5 (inclined). PVC coated only.
