Barbed wire to IS 278 size 1 (2.5 mm line wire, barbs at 75 mm), middle of the standard weight range. A long, narrow field has a longer perimeter than a square one — measure yours. For any length and wire: barbed wire weight calculator or the fencing cost calculator.
Several states subsidise farm fencing — for example Rajasthan’s Kantedar Tarbandi Yojana, Gujarat’s tar fencing scheme, and Himachal Pradesh’s scheme for barbed wire and chain link fencing. Subsidy rates, limits and eligibility change and differ by state and by farmer category, so check the current terms with your state agriculture department or on myScheme before buying. Most schemes ask for wire meeting the Indian Standard — ours is made to IS 278:2009, with a test certificate supplied with every lot.
