Hexagonal Double Twisted Mesh

The fabric behind every gabion we make. Two wires twisted together in a hexagonal pattern — so a single cut strand never unravels the panel. Supplied in rolls or fabricated into units.

What it is

Twisted, not welded — that difference is everything

Hexagonal double twisted wire mesh is made by twisting two wires together through several turns at each junction, forming a hexagonal pattern. That double twist is what stops the mesh unravelling if one wire is damaged in transit, during filling or in service.

Because the mesh is machine woven rather than hand woven, geometry and wire tension stay consistent across every square metre — no weak spots, and predictable engineering behaviour.

  • Non-ravelling — a broken wire stays local, the panel holds
  • Distributes load evenly rather than concentrating it at a joint
  • Flexible enough to tolerate movement without fracturing
  • Available heavily galvanized or PVC coated for aggressive sites

Why double twisted

Built to survive site conditions

Three structural reasons engineers specify double twisted mesh over the alternatives.

Won't unravel

Cut one wire and the damage stays local. Welded and single-twist meshes can run a failure across the whole panel.

Even load transfer

The hexagonal geometry spreads tension in every direction instead of concentrating it at rigid joints.

Corrosion options

Heavy galvanizing as standard, with PVC coating available for submerged, coastal and chemically aggressive ground.

Applications

What it's woven into

One mesh, several engineered products.

01 — Gabion Boxes

Stone-filled retaining and erosion structures

Fabricated into rectangular boxes with internal diaphragms for retaining walls, check dams and river training works.

02 — Revet Mattresses

Thin, wide units for bed and bank armour

Low-profile mattress units that armour channel beds and banks against scour while staying flexible enough to follow the ground profile.

03 — Gabion Sacks

Cylindrical units for rapid deployment

Sack gabions deploy quickly and conform to an uneven bed — useful for scour protection and emergency closure work, including underwater.

04 — Rockfall Netting

Drapery over unstable faces

Draped over rock cuttings to hold loose material against the slope and protect the road or railway below.
