The monsoon runs from about late June to September, with cloudbursts in the hills. Road and river works are built from October to June.

River channels: mattresses and boxes, PVC coated where they are wet much of the year.
Fencing: chain link to IS 2721 (commonly 50 or 75 mm mesh), welded mesh to IS 4948, barbed wire to IS 278, concertina coil (600 mm is the usual tender size) — galvanized or PVC coated.
