Thimphu fills the valley of the Wang Chhu, with the city climbing the slopes on both sides. New buildings, roads and compounds are cut into those slopes, and every cut needs a retaining wall that drains; the roads to Paro, Dochula and Phuentsholing need rockfall protection over their cuttings.

Material comes from our Ethelbari works through Jaigaon and Phuentsholing, then up the highway to Thimphu. Rolled fencing and folded gabions are light for what they cover.
The monsoon runs roughly June to September. Slope walls and river works are built outside it; fencing can be installed most of the year.
